I was looking at damaged lungs and and repiratory systems to help with my illustration. I plan my  final illustration to be one continuous line to represent the veins/artieries carrying smoke all through the body.

Final pattern design...

Pattern in slightly brighter colours, edging towards neon in appearance.

Using the bird and the squid, (two images from my previous Hong Kong research into bird markets and street food), I will creat my final pattern.

As part of my research into pattern I looked at the Timorous Beastie's website. This is a design company set up by Alistair McAuley and Paul Simmons. They are noted for their 'surreal and provocative textiles and wallpapers'. I think their designs are beautiful and they will definately influence my pattern design ideas.
